Supplies for Easter Mason Jars Craft (affiliate links provided for convenience)
- Mason Jars – for my mason jar projects I like to use these 16oz mason jars because there’s a logo only on one side which leaves the other sides blank and perfect for decorating.
- White Primer – This is my favorite primer because it’s a flat primer and paint in one.
- Paint Markers – I highly recommend these extra fine point markers. I use them all the time on rocks, wood and more. They are perfect for details on mason jar crafts like this one.
- Acrylic Paint – The Folk Art brand of acrylic paint and the Martha Stewart Living brand of acrylic paint are both great options but any acrylic paint will work.
- Brushes – You can use foam paint brushes or flat paint brushes for covering mason jars with paint.
- Sealant (optional) – Often I use this matte spray sealant or this gloss spray sealant depending on if I want shine or a matte finish.
Directions for Easter Mason Jars Craft
- Step 1: When it comes to painting mason jars, this flat white paint and primer in one is my secret weapon. Place mason jars mouth down on top of a piece of cardboard and spray evenly with the flat white primer.
- Step 2: Use a pencil to sketch your easter design. Make sure to lightly sketch your design so that the pencil marks are not too dark.Â
- Step 3: Cover the large open areas of your design using acrylic paint and a paint brush.Â
- Step 4: Add in the details using paint markers. For the paint markers be sure to shake them well before using and always test them first on a piece of paper.
- Step 5 (optional): Honestly I don’t always seal my mason jars. If you do though it can help protect against fading and chipping. You just need to decide if you want a matte or gloss spray sealant.
